For a vast majority of disadvantaged Indian children, the quality of care and education that they receive in their homes, in preschool centres and schools is extremely inadequate. Deficits in children’s physical health, cognitive development, social/emotional well-being and foundational skills of literacy, numeracy and critical thinking result in their acquiring very low levels of learning and consequently dropping out of school prematurely. This in turn has led to lakhs of out-of-school youth under 25 years who are functionally illiterate, innumerate and lack other life-skills. CLR works to address these developmental and educational challenges.
